Welcome!Welcome to the websites of ADT! We would like to tell you a little about the structure of our association and what we do. For the latest information from the world of animal breeding and all questions relating to the production and marketing of animals and animal products, please refer to the corresponding pages of our member organisations. The Arbeitsgemeinschaft Deutscher Tierzüchter e.V. (ADT) [German Animal Breeders Federation] is a union of the national umbrella organisations of cattle, pig, horse, poultry, sheep and goat breeders and beekeepers. In line with the tasks of each of the member organisations, we mainly represent the areas of breeding, performance testing and insemination, as well as marketing in Germany and abroad. Central themes include matters of animal production, animal health and animal welfare, and the development of the Common Agricultural Policy, the general development of the EU and its integration into world trade (WTO) are also monitored. The association’s head office, the Haus der Tierzucht [Animal Breeding House] is located in Bonn. The two largest ADT member organisations ADR and ZDS are also based there. In Brussels, the ADT maintains an office in the Haus der Deutschen Agrar- und Ernährungswirtschaft [House of the German Agro-Alimentary Economy], in which the DBV, DRV, GFP/FEI, VDSF, DIL, BOGK, BSI, BDSI and the Chambers of Agriculture are also represented. This facilitates coordination and cooperation with the aforementioned organisations. The Brussels office is situated near Place du Luxembourg, not far from the buildings of the European Parliament, the EU Commission and the Council. Purpose of the association: According to § 2 of its statutes, the ADT serves to bring together and promote all efforts aimed at improving the economic efficiency and competitive strength of German animal products and bringing the requirements of ecology and economics into line with each other. Its activity is not geared towards an economic commercial operation. Tasks: Since opening its office in Brussels in autumn 2001, the main task of the ADT has been to safeguard the interests of its affiliated member organisations with regard to European institutions (in particular the Commission and Parliament). The ADT provides members with the latest information and documentation from Brussels and at the same time provides protagonists in the capital of Europe with information from the grass roots. The ADT office also serves as a contact point, which arranges meetings with EU officials or MEPs and identifies the right people to contact in Brussels. The ADT also maintains contacts with many other national and European organisations in the agricultural sector. In particular, it regularly plays a part in the work of the Breeding Animalsworking group of COPA/COGECA, the European platform for the export of breeding cattle, semen and embryos (ExPla) and the European Federation for Animal Health and Sanitary Security (FESASS). Contacts are also maintained with the Secretariat to the Permanent Committee of the European Conventions for the Protection of Animals at the Council of Europe in Strasbourg. Through its activities in Brussels, the ADT makes its members and their positions known and provides a platform for exchange between members. At the same time, the ADT is active in close consultation with its member organisations, mainly in areas of interest to all animals (e.g. matters of animal protection, drug legislation, animal protection legislation, etc.). It also sees itself as an addition to existing groups representing members’ interests. | International Green Week Berlin 2011 The International Green Week Berlin 2012 (IGW) continued to consolidate its reputation as the world’s largest consumer show for agriculture, food and horticulture and its role as a leading trade show for the entire agribusiness sector. It attracted the highest attendance for four years. Over 420,000 visitors flocked to the Berlin Exhibition Grounds from 20 to 29 January and provided the exhibitors with sales of around 47 million euros.
